Doing A Wheelie

By Phyllis Odessey

“Evidence of wheeled vehicles appears from the mid 4th millennium BC, near simultaneously in Mesopotamia, the Northern Caucasus and Central Europe, so that the question of which culture originally invented the wheeled vehicle remains unsolved and under debate”  Wikipedia

We are considering getting chickens for The Learning Garden.  Of course, what variety or varieties of chickens is always the fun part.  But first we have to solve the problem of the chicken coop.  The chickens cannot remain in our garden location overnight..  They will need to moved at the end of the day. Unlike herding dogs for sheep, we need to move our chickens in another way.

The wheel, as it has been for centuries, is the answer to our problem.    Here are some designs of the coops that can be moved.

This coop is by Helmulth builders.

Artisan Design
Low Tech.

My favorite by Nogg, a British company.  Wheels need to be added.

We will keep you posted as we look into the different designs.
